Tek TDS 220 Digital Sampling Oscilloscope
The TDS series scopes employed a soft front panel with measurement related columns with primary and secondary controls aligned. Tertiary controls were delegated to the bezel menu buttons.
The functional grouping became much more important as scopes increased in the number of channels. The horizontal and vertical alignments made finding the right knob or button possible.
We notice a similar functional grouping in the nuclear attack submarine Greenling's Torpedo Launch Sequencer.
